turning the tap dance into your crusade February 3, 2010

Life comes at you quick, there’s plenty of room for excuses (good and bad) for not pushing the envelope

From what I’ve seen the person who gets ahead:

  • doesn’t throw people politics in the way, rather level loading the environment by speaking the same thing to all parties involved
  • acknowledging your adversaries often have common interests and finding them
  • Gets along with everyone, candor of the utmost importance
  • from a technical perspective, the one who gets the ‘proof of concept’ working, not fearing the ‘run’ button or the ‘configuration’
  • curious rather than definitive
  • being bold, asking for forgiveness rather than permission
  • being flexible in tactics, no compromise on end state
  • picking your battles; knowing when to be meek and when to be aggressive
  • learning the rules and following them first, tear em’ all to hell if they’re bad, second
