Wolf packs and convoys and Captains and men April 4, 2010

my writing has gotten tame over the last year or so, i guess a response to a balance in stimuli, funny how that works – the more self proclaimed ‘objective’ you get the less vocal opinion you have on the grind of the world.  is the middle the right place to be?  that is the question i’ve been pondering as of late, the gut answer still a resounding yes.

as the world jockeys for position with words and seminars, my strategy remains the same, gain understanding from thick books of well thought out theories and allow patience to see them through.  what’s happened in regard to that is things i once though were out of reach are now well within grasp.

i’ve heard enough doomsday scenarios to last a lifetime and only think what the world has been like in the past with the advent of the industrial revolution, the printing press, the wheel.  the complexity of the world’s functions are balanced with tools that create simplicity.  there’s a silver lining to every challenge and hardship, those who focus on this get ahead, the ones who lament on how bad the world is have plenty of company.

true irony lands me in a dictators palace on easter, neither the easter bunny nor i belong, but we’re here making the best of it.  ritual is somethin’ else, it takes not having’ a few holidays to truly appreciate them.

talking about miracles, hope and despair, the prevailing themes here, hope b/c you see what the ‘machine’ can accomplish, despair in seeing the misdirection, nevertheless, these campaigns are unbelievable if you’ve never been in the business.  Caesar took Gaul with much less.  If the mantra for these campaigns would be the eradication of the world of barbarians, it’d make a bit of sense, and the mission would turn more humanitarian, infrastructure and commerce being key — politics and bombs seem to put a damper on that however, maybe one day we’ll get there.

could all the mind power that goes into building iApps and facebook widgets have a drain on intellectual power being used in solving more complex issue like nation building, trade embargoes, poverty and world hunger, nuclear proliferation and the redistricting of national boundaries along the lines of resources?  when we point the private sector at these challenges all we have capable is KBR, halliburton and a slew of others, that’s something that needs attention.

i have hope for the next generation of leaders –
